Tips to Declutter your Home

on Tuesday, 20 February 2024. Posted in Doctor of Fitness

It's essential to declutter on a regular basis, but some of us may need more time to justify and straighten out our overstuffed rooms, disorganized drawers, and crowded nooks. So, what is the best way to get started?

Home Decluttering: How to Get Rid of Clutter

The idea of reducing our belongings often leads to feelings of being overwhelmed, uneasy, and hopeless. But decluttering your home and life does not have to be as challenging as it may seem.

Decluttering your home can be done in a single day, over a weekend, or over a more extended 30-day period, depending on the amount of stuff you have. Setting achievable and reasonable goals is vital to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Break up the areas that need clearing and estimate the time required for each, giving yourself some leeway in case things don't go as planned.

Start by determining your needs before buying storage solutions like vacuum storage bags or Mason jars. The most important thing is to declutter first. After that, you can evaluate each closet and room to determine what storage purchases are necessary to keep things organized and neat.

Approach your home as if you were a guest. It's easy to forget how your house appears to a new guest. Imagine visiting a friend's house and assessing the home's cleanliness and organization. Make any necessary adjustments to ensure your home is welcoming and organized.

Decluttering an entire house can be overwhelming and daunting, especially when implementing your home organizing ideas. However, if you break it down into smaller, manageable pieces and work on it gradually, it becomes much more achievable. Additionally, incorporating top-quality storage solutions can make the process easier and more efficient.

Preparing Documents During Tax Season

on Tuesday, 06 February 2024. Posted in Doctor of Fitness

February is here, which means the filling season is fast approaching! Are your documents ready and in order? If not, it's time to get them organized now. You don't want to be scrambling at the last minute. Make sure all of your forms are up-to-date and ready to be submitted.

Whether you decide to file your taxes yourself or hire a tax expert, gathering a few documents in advance is essential. Keeping these records handy can help you complete your tax filing process more quickly. Additionally, having these documents ready can help you reduce costs if you hire a tax expert by the hour.

Have accompanying documents for:

  • Personal identification details and those of any dependents you plan to claim (e.g., family members).
  • Complete list of all revenue sources you earned throughout the current year.
  • Any credits or deductions that you are eligible to claim.
  • Details on all taxes that you have paid during the year.

Keeping your tax documents in a secure location after filing is advisable. In the event of an audit by the IRS or state tax authority, you may be asked to provide records supporting the income and tax breaks on your return. Having all the necessary documentation in one place can expedite the process, and your deductions or credits will be recovered.

Maintain precise records all year round and collect all the necessary data before filing your taxes to reduce stress during the tax season and stay organized.

Start by gathering your documents in one place. Sort them into categories and make sure to keep them organized. Finally, double-check that everything is complete and accurate before submitting it.

Take care of your heart

on Tuesday, 30 January 2024. Posted in Doctor of Fitness

National Wear Red Day is observed every year on the first Friday of February. This day is part of American Heart Month and is widely recognized as a way to raise awareness about heart-related conditions, particularly among women. By wearing red on this day, people across the country show their support and spread the word about the importance of heart health.

Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality among women? It accounts for one in three fatalities among women annually. However, with the proper knowledge, instruction, resources, and research, around 87% of all cardiac problems can be prevented.

Heart Disease In Women

National Wear Red Day was established in 2004 and is endorsed by the American Heart Association. The main goal of this nationwide campaign is to increase awareness of women's increased risk of heart disease and stroke.

Cardiac disease and heart attacks have always been associated with men, and studies have focused on them to understand cardiovascular conditions and possible treatments better. However, Go Red for Women aims to raise awareness about the risk factors linked to cardiovascular disease in women and provide support to this underrepresented group.

According to the American Heart Association, only 56% of women are aware that heart disease is the leading cause of death for women, and even fewer know the acceptable thresholds for risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease. The campaign aims to educate women nationwide about their health risks and protective measures for maintaining a healthy heart.

In February, hearts are at the center of everything. It doesn't matter whether it's Valentine's Day, Healthy Heart Month, or National Wear Red Day; we all want a healthy heart. So, dress in the brightest red clothing, accessories, lipstick, or shoes this National Wear Red Day and spread the word.

It's common to feel depressed in January for several reasons. The Christmas season often brings a sense of anticlimax, where either you had a great time and it's now over, or you didn't, but it seems everyone else did.

Many of us reflect on our lives as the New Year begins. This may involve acknowledging that things did not go as planned. We may review past resolutions and realize that we could not keep them or feel sad about those no longer with us. The pandemic has made the past few years challenging for all of us, and this difficult time may continue, making January even more depressing.

January blues and the New Year can have a negative impact on our mental health, causing feelings of despair. After the indulgences of the holiday season, returning to the regular daily routine can be daunting.

In anticipation of the dreaded January Blues, here are some ways to overcome them.

  1. Go on a trip. You don't necessarily need to take a long vacation; even a short weekend getaway can positively impact your overall outlook.
  2. Eat nutritious food. Eating a healthy diet rich in grains, dairy, seafood, nuts, and fruits and vegetables will help you feel better.
  3. Get enough sleep. This helps maintain good mental health, as sleep deprivation can cause agitation, nervousness, and anxiety.
  4. Do fun winter activities. Moving your body is a fantastic way to elevate your mood and has been shown to help prevent depression.
  5. Stay warm. Our bodies seek warm comfort, which is why we often seek out the sun or enjoy a comforting cup of hot beverage.

January may not be the most thrilling month, but focusing on the positive things in your life can chase away the blues.
