Winter can be a challenging season with long, cold days that bring sudden and dangerous weather. While the falling snow and the white sheet covering the landscape are a pretty view, stepping outside can bring a dreadful feeling.
The cold weather can be incredibly dangerous. Exposure to low temperatures can cause severe injuries and, in some cases, even fatalities.
How To Have A Safe And Fun Winter
Are you struggling with the winter season? Are you tired of battling the cold, ice, snow, and heavy clothing? Then, these tips and tricks that you'll surely find helpful.
- Dress warmly. Wear layers, with outer layers preferably made of wool or synthetic.
- Stay active. Don't keep still; move your body continuously to generate heat and keep you warm.
- Keep pets indoors. If you find it too cold to be outdoors, you shouldn't leave your pet outdoors either.
- Prepare an emergency kit. Have emergency supplies in your vehicle with a blanket, thick coats, food, water, chains or rope, shovel, and lighter.
- Walk like a penguin. Learn to walk on ice safely by imitating a penguin. Shuffle with your feet pointed out and your arms slightly out to the sides.
- Keep your hands out of your pocket, especially while walking outside, as it can affect your balance and center of gravity. This will prevent you from using your hands to break a fall.
